West Park Warm-pool Aquafit

February 10, 2012
Warm-Pool Aquafit classes are offered for the management of chronic pain and overall health. With a small group size, classes are ideal for helping to manage various types of pain, muscle soreness and spasms, and to strengthen postural muscles and lengthen overused muscles. Warm-pool aquafit is ideal for those with mobility issues, as water allows for movement in many different directions not possible on land for many with chronic pain or arthritis. Swimming ability is not necessary and as one of the few facilities in the area to offer a pool that is heated to a constant temperature of 94 degrees Celsius, participants also receive the therapeutic benefits of heat. For the health and safety of all participants, to qualify for Warm-Pool Aquafit participants must: - Not require a mobility aid (walker, cane, etc.) for balance or for walking in the pool; - Not require assistance showering, dressing, getting in/out of the pool or during the class; - Have full bowel/bladder control (must be continent); - Not suffer from dizzy spells, heart conditions or chest pains. Hydrotherapy - physiotherapy in the warm-pool - is available for those who do not qualify for Warm-Pool Aquafit. In addition to receiving the benefits of physiotherapy, hydrotherapy participants also enjoy the therapeutic benefits of heat.
